While the forestry community is out there slogging through the dog days of summer, Forest Forum members are quietly gearing up for the fall, which is full of a variety of activities.  Bob Broderick is thinking about menu options for the Blanket Party, Saturday September 6 at the Historic Chicizola Ranch House on Jackson Gate, and Swingle Meat is part of the picture.  I've requested the pieces of the Tahoe getaway package for the raffle, and firewood, as well as goodies from area wineries, have already been secured.  If you have a prize to donate, please let me know.  There's even talk of a croquet tournament, with Robert Little claiming to be a force to be reckoned with.  Any challengers?

Eddie Oneto has also been working on behalf of the Forest Forum this summer.  He has successfully secured George Gruell as our September speaker, and spoke to Monte Colburn at the Amador County Fair about the Forest Forum.  Monte, a native of Amador County, is well known as one of the crab fisherman on the show "Deadliest Catch".  I have formally invited Monte to participate in our May Field Tour and Barbeque, after his winter fishing season on the Bering Sea.

And our presence is being requested at Tahoe Farm Day, Amador County Farm Day, and the El Dorado Forestry Challenge.  A complete listing of dates and details of the fall schedule is on the "Forest Forum Mtgs." page of the website.
The Amador-El Dorado Forest Forum is a group of forestry professionals, forestry educators, and others interested in forestry practices and issues.  The Forum meets once a month at various locations in the two-county area.  The Forum awards scholarships to local college students majoring in Forestry and sponsors the California Forestry Challenge.  Everyone is welcome to join our group. We have great dinner meetings, an annual Blanket Party, and participate in El Dorado County Farm Day.  For complete details on upcoming Forest Forum meetings, go to the "Forest Forum Mtgs." page.
